Description About the role We are a $60M election technology and print company with a multi-state footprint that is growing our offerings and position as a leader in our industry. Our finance department is focused on assessing and modernizing our existing processes and tackling projects that add value to the company and to the finance team. This Senior Accountant owns the technical accounting areas and will play a major role in the automation that supports them. Responsibilities Revenue recognition and contract accounting
- Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 across subscription software, licensed software with maintenance, and print contracts.
- Maintain the deferred revenue rollforward and revenue waterfall by contract.
- Lead the reconciliation of contract and billing data between Salesforce and Dynamics GP.
- Research and document accounting positions on new or unusual arrangements. Print operations accounting
- Reconcile print revenue to the job management system monthly.
- Maintain inventory, work-in-process, received-not-invoiced costs, uninvoiced revenue, and job-level cost and margin reporting. Balance sheet
- Own fixed assets, prepaids, leases, debt and interest, and commission and bonus accruals, including supporting schedules and rollforwards.
- Prepare and own assigned balance sheet reconciliations end to end. Sales and income tax
- Own sales tax compliance across 15+ states: reconciliation, filings, and nexus tracking.
- Prepare the state apportionment package for the outside tax firm and support the annual provision. Automation and process improvement
- Own the department automation backlog: help diagnose root causes and build fixes in SQL, Power Query, Excel, or Python.
- Document processes and maintain standard operating procedures for your areas. Close, analysis, and audit
- Own assigned sections of the monthly and annual close.
- Prepare balance sheet and income statement flux analysis and explain material variances.
- Build and maintain dashboards and KPI reporting for your areas.
- Prepare audit workpapers and respond to auditor questions for your areas.
- Review staff-prepared work and serve as the technical resource for the team. What makes this role different
- Real ownership of technical areas rather than assigned pieces of the close.
- Direct database access and modern tooling: SQL views on the ERP, Power Query, and Python, with finance leaders who build alongside you.
- Complexity worth learning: two business models, ASC 606 in practice, multi-state tax, job costing, and M&A due diligence. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with company match; unlimited PTO; tuition reimbursement; on-site gym; life, disability, and supplemental insurance options. Full details provided at offer. Work authorization Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer. This is an on-site position. Requirements Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA track preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of at least one technical area (revenue recognition, fixed assets, or tax). Public accounting or multi-entity industry experience a plus.
- Working knowledge of ASC 606 and the ability to research and document accounting positions.
- Advanced Excel (SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, PivotTables, Power Query). SQL experience strongly preferred; willingness to learn required.
- ERP experience; Dynamics GP a plus.
- Comfortable building and improving process in a dynamic environment.
