FORESTRY TECHNICIAN

Summary About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position as a Forestry Technician with Directorate of Public Works Environmental Division Prevention and Compliance Branch Fort Benning, GA. Duties

• As a Forestry Technician you will perform the following duties which is not all inclusive list:
• Serve as a Forestry Technician responsible for implementing and managing wildland fire to include prescribed burning and wildfire suppression activities of the Natural Resources Program.
• Responsible for the timber marking program according to established procedure. Plans, designs, and coordinates all timber marking activities.
• Coordinate with Planning Section to provide comments on proposed timber sales, reforestation, and other silviculture treatments.
• Assist wildlife and forestry personnel with ecosystem management.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which includes service implementing the operations of a natural resources management program; project planning, developing local policies, technical specifications, and standards for timber marking, forest inventory, timber harvest, reforestation, wildfire suppression. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
