In this role, you will work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and other departments to support production schedules, manage supplier performance, control costs, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. As a senior member of the procurement team, you will have the opportunity to make independent decisions, build strategic supplier relationships, resolve supply issues, and help improve our overall procurement processes. What You'll Do
- Create, review, and manage purchase orders based on production requirements, inventory levels, forecasts, and approved requisitions.
- Monitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments to ensure materials are delivered on time and meet specifications.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and serve as a primary point of contact for procurement-related matters.
- Request and evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other commercial terms.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, supplier consolidation, and purchasing efficiencies.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, pricing, and service.
- Partner with Quality and suppliers to resolve material and quality issues and support corrective actions.
- Work with Production and Planning to address material shortages, late deliveries, supply constraints, and other procurement challenges.
- Identify and communicate potential supply risks and assist with developing mitigation plans.
- Review inventory levels and purchasing requirements to balance material availability with appropriate inventory investment.
- Assist with supplier selection, qualification, onboarding, and periodic supplier evaluations.
- Research alternative suppliers and materials to improve cost, quality, availability, and lead times.
- Analyze purchasing data and prepare reports related to spending, supplier performance, cost savings, inventory, and other procurement metrics.
- Support price negotiations, contract renewals, pricing agreements, blanket purchase orders, and supplier agreements.
- Assist with forecasting and long-term supply planning for critical materials and components.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings related to production planning, new products, cost reduction, and supply-chain performance.
- Support new product introductions by obtaining quotations, establishing suppliers, and coordinating material availability.
- Assist in developing and implementing procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Serve as a resource for purchasing processes and systems and provide guidance to less-experienced procurement team members.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and protect confidential company and supplier information.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, Operations, or a related field preferred. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with an ERP/MRP system.
- Strong knowledge of purchasing practices, supplier management, inventory principles, and supply-chain processes.
- Experience negotiating pricing, terms, lead times, and supplier agreements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to interpret purchase orders, supplier quotations, specifications, and other purchasing documentation.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and make sound decisions. What Will Make You Successful The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can balance the day-to-day demands of purchasing with the bigger picture of cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
