Description McIver Clinic has been a trusted provider of urological care in Jacksonville since 1921. With multiple locations throughout the greater Jacksonville area and more than 27 providers, we provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of urology. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our team. This position supports the daily operations of our clinical laboratory by assisting with specimen handling, routine testing processes, documentation, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical setting. Essential Job Functions
- Receive, label, prepare, and process patient specimens according to established procedures.
- Assist with routine urine specimen testing and processing.
- Accurately document specimen information and testing information.
- Follow established laboratory procedures and quality control processes.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the laboratory work area and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Follow established safety and infection-control procedures.
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Communicate questions, discrepancies, or concerns to the appropriate supervisor or clinical staff.
- Work collaboratively with providers and other members of the healthcare team.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous laboratory or clinical experience required.
- 1–2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills. Education & Experience Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous laboratory or clinical experience Preferred:
- 1–2 years of laboratory experience
- Associate or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology
