Summary About the Position: Manages liaison, administrative, and security operations for the Washington office. Coordinates communication between the Commander and defense organizations on Korea matters and serves as the primary Security Manager and Special Security Representative. Duties
- Maintains interagency liaison networks, analyzes operational issues, and evaluates historical reports to provide strategic recommendations and courses of action to senior leadership across government organizations.
- Directs daily administrative operations, correspondence routing, and meeting logistics, while preparing informational briefings and representing organizational interests at official regional conferences.
- Evaluates complex staff actions and policy documents across defense departments, preparing executive correspondence and tracking sensitive projects to ensure full regulatory and procedural compliance.
- Administers organizational databases, electronic filing systems, and workstation technologies while monitoring network connectivity, generating suspense reports, and resolving technical service issues.
- Oversees physical and information security programs, verifies personnel clearance records, controls secure facility access, conducts compliance inspections, and manages supply purchase accountability. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Coordinating, analyzing, and processing complex executive-level staff actions and communications between a major military command/headquarters and external defense agencies, military departments, or senior government leadership; 2) Serving as a primary or alternate Security Officer/Special Security Representative (SSR) responsible for administering physical, information, and personnel security programs, including managing access to a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and utilizing automated personnel security systems (e.g., DISS, Scattered Castles); and 3) Managing administrative workflows, coordinating high-level leadership visits/protocol arrangements, administering organizational databases, and overseeing government purchase card (GPC) or property accountability functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). To be eligible for promotion or placement under this plan, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, or within 30 calendar days after the date of the rating for open continuous announcements. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
