Position Title: Driver Status: Full-Time/Union Department: Transportation & Logistics Position Reports to: Logistics and Resources Manager Position Summary : This position is responsible for providing time-bound transportation services to patients/clients to and from medical appointments in Los Angeles. Under the direction of the Logistics and Resources Manager, the driver ensures a clean and safe environment at all times, operates the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, and follows all applicable traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies. The driver prioritizes the safety and well-being of patients/clients while providing reliable and professional transportation services. Responsibilities:
- Safely transports clients to and from designated facilities and ensures that all passengers are properly secured with seatbelts before operating the vehicle.
- Provides excellent customer service by greeting clients courteously and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.
- Ensures that passengers are properly secured with their seatbelts prior to operating the vehicle.
- Maintains client confidentiality and comply with all applicable HIPAA privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Inspect the assigned vehicle before and after use and promptly report any missing equipment, damage, or safety concerns to the manager.
- Monitor road conditions, traffic, and estimated travel times to ensure safe and efficient transportation.
- Accurately document mileage and trip information on a trip-by-trip basis.
- Ensure the vehicle locked, secured, and properly parked when unattended.
- Fulfill additional driving related requests, including picking up and delivering items.
- Maintain the cleanliness and overall condition of the vehicle, including the interior and exterior.
- Monitor the vehicle for routine maintenance needs, including tires, engine performance, fluid levels, and other safety related concerns, and promptly report maintenance issues to the appropriate manager.
- Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a valid California Driver License, Class C, or Class B as required for applicable RV/vehicle assignments.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must maintain a safe driving record and comply with all applicable state driving and transportation laws.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and may be subject to additional drug and alcohol testing during employment in accordance with applicable federal and state law and company policy. Physical Requirements:
- Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the workday.
- Occasionally squats, kneels, bends, and lifts objects
- Must be able to safely climb stairs and enter and exit the vehicle.
- Must be able to fully extend the arms above the head and in front of the body.
- Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally lifts and carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally push and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess good balance and coordination to safely perform job duties.
- Must be able to safely perform physical tasks associated with operating, securing, and maintaining the vehicle and transporting equipment and supplies.
