Agency Dept of Health and Human Services Division Broughton Hospital Job Classification Title Maintenance/Construction Supervisor II (NS) Position Number 60038564 Grade NC14 About Us The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. Description of Work Broughton Hospital (BH) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance/Construction Supervisor II. This position supervises the Carpentry Supervisor, Paint Supervisor and provides overall management and oversight of the following trade groups: Carpentry Department, which includes Interior Components comprised of Tile, Drywall and Plastering and the Paint Department. The work involves planning, scheduling, and seeing to completion tasks associated with these trades in a hospital environment. Planning involves building code review and coordinating with hospital administration as well as other trade groups. Ability to interpret building and mechanical layout plans, blueprints, schematics and specifications is a necessity. Scheduling will require an understanding of labor and manhours needed to successfully complete tasks. Must possess ability to thoroughly review the quality of completed repairs, construction and/or maintenance work ensuring accurate, efficient and effective resolve. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $52,592.00 - $92,036.00 Recruitment Range: $52,592.00 - $92,036.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. - highly organized, adaptable, and even-tempered; exhibiting both cognitive adaptability and psychological flexibility
- exceptional professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively prioritize and triage incoming requests under pressure
- strong desire to succeed and contribute to the success of the Facility Engineering Department and Broughton Hospital
- experience working in complex healthcare and construction environments is strongly preferred, including familiarity with the unique operational demands of medical/psychiatric facilities and/or settings and centralized, large-scale project coordination
- exceptional verbal and written communication skills Preference will be given to candidate(s) holding a General Contractor's license in good standing. Must have a valid NC Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
- Physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks on a periodic basis.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in temperatures over 85 degrees for more than 30 minutes.
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test. Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

- 4:00 PM and On-Call Rotation Flexibility is required for education and training purposes and to meet the needs of the facility.

- Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.
