The Assistant Textile Designer is responsible for the design, development and execution of artwork designs for specific categories that achieve Belk's Private Brand objectives, and overall product strategy. The Assistant Textile Designer manages all aspects of the print and graphic design to maintain brand consistency, and to ensure development and production of timely seasonal assortments that are relevant to the brand[s] position and target customer. Research and develop seasonal trends and ensure that designs meet merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points, and overall creative vision. Assistant Textile Designers have ownership of the artwork, libraries, and projects to achieve Belk goals in accordance with company policy and practices and to ensure quality, aesthetics, and timely delivery of products to market. Create original artwork for new private brand styles as well as specific product category of responsibility. Create print assortments for product development and meeting needs. Create original artwork (prints, embroideries, appliques, and other graphics) in Adobe suite and/or Kaledo for Private Brands lines Create all artwork in full repeat and clean via Adobe and/or Kaledo. Approves Strike offs and production for specific category of responsibility. Collaborate with Textile Designer, Apparel Design, Sourcing, and Vendors to achieve product execution and maintain design integrity Manages the print and pattern vision for a specific product category or brand[s]. Strong art/color sense and ability to translate merchant/market input into highly sell-able product Create and inspires ideas/ new concepts outside the current assortment[s] Support the creation of trend boards, presentation boards, and compelling product assortments Researches domestic markets for color/print/fabric trends each season Create color and print multipliers, making a cohesive collection for presentation boards & the fully assorted line. Be able to work on multiple brands and age ranges, from design to product development Identifies opportunities for process improvement and implement improvements Develops and maintains relationships with the Design, Merchandising teams, Sourcing, Tech Design, Marketing, Domestic and Overseas Offices, and key vendors to exchange ideas, leverage expertise, and streamline the development process Create and adhere to seasonal Time/Action calendar Understand the design process and Private Brands/Merchant’s business objectives to drive and support financial results Participate as a member of Private Brand team for continual improvement of product Special projects and other duties as assigned All employees are expected to be in compliance with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures Required for All Jobs •Performs other duties as assigned •Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications Education

Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent years of experience Required

Work Experience

1-2 years applicable experience Required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong attention to detail Strong commercial sense and market knowledge of prints and graphics Must be able to distinguish color Demonstrates strong people skills and the ability to be an effective communicator, and team player Able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment Ability to research and to apply market trend information Working knowledge of design and product development processes Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines Strong presentation skills Strong time management skills at a process and communication level Strong sense of initiative Creative ability to identify and create new artwork to address white space Specific Training: Must be proficient in design programs: Adobe CC Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator & Bridge) and Microsoft office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience in Kaledo or other textile design software preferred Strong fashion sense and ability to translate merchant/ market input into highly salable product Strong creative skills and the ability to sketch and design new ideas Ability to draw by hand and digitally is required Must have strong, elevated color sense Must be highly adaptable and a great problem solver Ability to improve skill set by listening/responding to constructive critique Good communication skills required #LI-SE1 #IND3
