- Hiring Immediately Shift Overview:
- Openings on all shifts with a majority of positions on 2nd shift and Early Weekend shift
- Shift times and overtime hours vary dependent on position, department, and location
- 2nd shift: Monday – Thursday, four 10 hour days, overtime worked at the end of shift and on Friday’s with occasional Saturdays JOB SUMMARY: The positions within Painter II may sand, mask and apply topcoat and/or perform touch up operations to truck parts and/or major components and must maintain a safe and clean work environment. They may inspect the work of others and repair defects. They provide mentoring, training, and work instructions to new hires and/or recently transferred co-workers.
Essential Duties and
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use hand and power tools to prep truck parts and panels for the painting process
- Evenly apply primer and paint to parts and panels
- Inspect and fix defects on parts and panels
- Bleed lines, apply sealer, and apply paint to parts and panels
- Detect unpainted areas or paint defects on parts and panels and correct as needed
- Caulk, tape, and hang parts and panels
- Rotate between painting, sanding and taping
- Transport truck parts and panels to and from designated areas
- Push/pull carts filled with parts and equipment with the help of other co-workers to designated area
- Assist co-workers on lifting parts and panels and tools
- Review check sheets and notes
- Clean work area and work tools
- Communicate verbally with co-workers to keep a safe working environment
- Sweep and clean work area and equipment
- Be responsive to needs of co-workers and supervisors
- Use a computer to locate and read truck prints and sign off job tasks
- Participate in onboarding training (within 6 months of start date) and annual training related to being a hazardous waste handler as required by the
Epa Rcra
hazardous waste rules. This will include ability to understand what waste hazards are, storage time limits, satellite accumulation, marking, labeling, weekly inspections, aisle space, storage, manifest shipping, use and location of emergency equipment, response to spills and fires, evacuation routes, etc. RCRA training records will be maintained as required. MARGINALWORK FUNCTIONS: *These functions may be considered essential based on location, position, and other factors.
- Review daily paperwork*
- Work overtime if needed*
- Climb onto roof of trucks with the use of fall restraints to perform sanding and painting duties*
- Read blueprints of truck*
- Mix paint and empty waste paint*
- Operate motorized equipment*
- Regulate paint kitchen and dump waste paint* BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with automotive painting and/or metal finishing PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in Auto Body repair or related area
- Four years of experience with automotive painting and/or metal finishing

- Perform tasks while crouching, sitting, kneeling, or in an awkward position
- Perform safe lifting of equipment and tools
- Carry spray and painting tools for an extended period of time
- Use vibratory tools throughout the shift
- Use both hands for tool operation, carrying of parts, and assisting co-workers with heavy lifting of parts or panels
- Detect hazardous materials near or around the work area
- Use a computer to read prints on trucks and sign off job tasks
