Specialist Family Violence Practitioner Full-time | Darwin, NT | SCHADS Level 5 Why this role matters The Salvation Army’s Family Violence Services in the Northern Territory supports women and children who have experienced or are experiencing family violence. Our refuge provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where victim survivors can begin to rebuild their lives, recover from trauma and work towards a safer future. We are committed to delivering culturally responsive, trauma informed and person-centred support that empowers women and children to regain control, strengthen their wellbeing and achieve their goals. As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting women and children during some of the most challenging periods of their lives. Through compassionate practice, advocacy and meaningful support, you will help create pathways to safety, stability and long-term recovery. About the role We are seeking a passionate Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join our NT Family Violence Services Refuge team. You will provide specialist family violence case management, crisis response and advocacy to women and children accessing refuge accommodation, supporting them to navigate crisis and move towards safer futures. This permanent full-time position within the Family Violence Service based in Darwin, reporting to the Team Leader. Pay is in accordance with a SCHADS Level 5. How you will make an impact
- Build trusted relationships that promote empowerment, self-determination and recovery
- Deliver specialist family violence case management and crisis support
- Complete ongoing assessments and develop collaborative, goal focused case plans
- Support women and children to access services, resources and community connections
- Monitor progress and adapt support plans as needs change
- Maintain accurate records and data using TSA systems
- Identify, manage and escalate risks to support client safety and wellbeing
- Support the day-to-day operation of the refuge, helping to create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment
- Participate in supervision and collaborative team processes
- Create culturally safe and inclusive spaces for women and children What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work
- Experience in family violence and/or child wellbeing work
- Demonstrated ability to deliver trauma informed, client centred support
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly when working with Aboriginal women
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously
- Strong written and digital record keeping skills
- Integrity, resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
- Working with Children Check
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain What we offer
