Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. • Serve as a member of hazardous material emergency response team and structural or crash firefighting crew.
• Set up decontamination area and performs decontamination of personnel and equipment.
• Participate in training sessions to include hazardous material confinement, containment, and control, map study, ladder practice, hose evolutions, and positional cross training.
• Serve on desk watch detail and monitors the Automatic Fire Alarm System. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify for the GS-07 level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service performing structural and airfield/ARFF firefighting, crash rescue, and hazardous materials mitigation as a certified HAZMAT Technician; driving and operating heavy fire apparatus (pumpers and ARFF vehicles); conducting facility safety inspections to eliminate fire hazards; operating fire communications systems; and preparing or delivering training in fire protection and emergency response. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience required to qualify for the GS-07 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certifications: HAZMAT Technician Certification, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator -Pumper, Driver Operator
• ARFF, Emergency Medical Technician. You MUST submit a copy of the above certifications certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board or National Registry EMT Certification Card indicating a future expiration).
