Senior Examination Specialist (Emerging Technology)

Summary This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision (RMS) and is responsible for serving as a technical expert to support the FDIC's emerging technology policy and examination functions. Duties Serves as a primary technical resource that provides support to division and agency initiatives, including examination and supervision, related to emerging technologies, including digital assets, stablecoins, or artificial intelligence/machine learning. Provides technical expertise and leads the development and communication of supervisory policies that relate to emerging technology, including digital assets, stablecoin, or artificial intelligence/machine learning. This includes drafting regulations, policy statements, financial institution letters, and examination guidelines related to emerging technology. Maintains ongoing and current technical expertise in emerging technology developments, associated risk management functions, and industry adoption to support examination and policy development responsibilities and agency initiatives. Leads and directs the assignments of examination specialists and analysts on supervisory, policy, and other functions related to emerging technologies. Develops training and knowledge transfer capabilities for Division or Corporation employees to communicate emerging technologies to support examination, supervision, policy, and other Corporation initiatives. Conducts meetings, briefings, and presentations on emerging technologies, highly complex issues, and agency initiatives to senior management, supervisors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders related to emerging technology. Represents the Division in interagency and intra-agency task forces, committees, and working groups on emerging technologies. Confers and works closely with counterparts across the Division and Corporation on matters involving emerging technology to develop consensus and incorporate perspectives from various specialty and technical areas across the Corporation. Qualifications Qualifying experience is credited from private and public sectors, including paid and unpaid service (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Volunteer service builds competencies that translate to paid work. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. See OPM's General Schedule Qualification Standards for details. CG-15: Applicants must complete one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CG/GS-14 level or above in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as conducting examinations of financial institutions and developing supervisory policies related to emerging technologies such as digital assets, digital asset custody, and associated risk management functions or artificial intelligence/machine learning and model risk management; experience developing and delivering training and presentations to internal and external audiences such as executives, industry representatives, or the public related to emerging technology. In addition to the qualification requirements above, you must meet the following selective factor: Must be a Commissioned Examiner in the FDIC or another organization with comparable commissioning criteria to that used by the FDIC's Division of Risk Management Supervision.
