Summary The Division of Investment Management is seeking a Senior Policy Adviser (Attorney-Adviser). As a Senior Policy Adviser, you will provide expert legal analysis, policy advice, and regulatory guidance on complex investment management issues. This role works closely with senior leaders to shape key policy initiatives and represents the Director's Office in high-level meetings across the Commission and with external partners. Duties In this role as a Senior Policy Adviser, you will be responsible for: Providing expert legal analysis, advice, and opinions on regulatory policy issues requiring the direct attention of the Director and Division senior leadership. Attending meetings with agency senior management and serving as the primary liaison with the Chairman's Office, Commissioners, other SEC divisions and offices (including Public Affairs and Legislative Affairs), other federal agencies, state securities regulators, and similar organizations. Writing and overseeing the preparation of testimony and speeches for the Director and other senior officials appearing before Congressional committees, at educational programs, and at conferences. Leading and conducting independent studies and initiatives recommended by the Director, advising on highly complex policy issues from start to finish. Maintain a working knowledge of the Division's programs and engage directly in specific program areas when matters require the Office of the Director's attention. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. BASIC REQUIREMENT: All applicants must possess the following J.D. or LL.B. degree --AND-- Active membership of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. (Note: proof of bar membership will be required before entry on duty.

Minimum Qualification

REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must also meet the minimum qualification requirement. SK-16: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-14 level. Specialized experience includes: Providing legal advice through interpreting and applying the provisions of federal securities laws, such as the Investment Company Act, the Investment Advisers Act, the Securities Act, and/or the Exchange Act.
