Impact You’ll Make As a Director within Stout’s Disputes, Claims, and Investigations group, you will lead complex litigation and dispute engagements involving financial, accounting, economic, and damages-related analyses. The role will have a particular focus on securities litigation, class actions, and antitrust matters, along with other complex commercial disputes. You will serve as a senior advisor to clients and legal counsel, oversee engagement teams, and contribute to the growth of the practice through strong client relationships and business development.
- Lead complex litigation and dispute consulting engagements, with particular emphasis on securities litigation, class actions, antitrust matters, and other significant commercial disputes.
- Provide objective financial and economic analyses that support clients, legal counsel, and expert witnesses.
- Build and expand relationships with law firms, corporate clients, and other stakeholders through responsive service and high-quality work.
- Develop professionals through coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
- Improve engagement delivery, internal processes, and practice management standards. What You’ll Do
- Lead and oversee litigation engagements involving securities litigation, class actions, antitrust and competition matters, economic damages, lost profits, business interruption, breach of contract, post-transaction disputes, claims analysis, and related financial and economic issues.
- Direct financial, economic, and quantitative analyses relevant to securities, class action, and antitrust matters, including analyses of damages, causation, market activity, transactions, and other case-specific issues.
- Manage engagements from initial planning through analysis, reporting, expert support, and presentation of findings.
- Serve as a senior day-to-day contact for clients, outside counsel, expert witnesses, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and review financial models, damages calculations, statistical and data analyses, and other quantitative work product.
- Analyze financial statements, accounting records, market and transaction data, contracts, claims data, company records, and other information relevant to the matter.
- Prepare and review written reports, memoranda, exhibits, demonstratives, and presentations for use in litigation, arbitration, regulatory proceedings, and other disputes.
- Assess alternative arguments, assumptions, methodologies, and damages theories to support well-reasoned and defensible conclusions.
- Support expert witness work, including preparation for expert reports, depositions, hearings, arbitration proceedings, and trial.
- Manage engagement scope, staffing, budgets, timelines, and deliverable quality.
- Lead business development efforts by expanding existing relationships, developing new opportunities, and supporting proposals and presentations, particularly within the securities litigation, class action, and antitrust markets.
- Deliver technical and market-facing presentations to clients, prospects, legal professionals, and industry audiences.
- Mentor and develop junior professionals through coaching, review of work product, and formal or informal training.
- Contribute to internal initiatives that improve engagement execution, staff development, knowledge sharing, and practice efficiency.
- Maintain technical and industry knowledge through professional designations, training, continuing education, and awareness of developments affecting securities litigation, class actions, antitrust disputes, and related areas. What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in dispute consulting, economic consulting, forensic accounting, economic damages, litigation support, or a related advisory field.
- Meaningful experience with securities litigation, class actions, and antitrust matters, including financial, economic, damages, or other quantitative analyses supporting complex litigation.
- Experience working with law firms, corporate clients, and expert witnesses on complex litigation matters.
- Experience working in a professional services or economic consulting firm preferred.
- Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, ASA, CMA, CIRA, CTP, or CFE preferred.
- Experience leading complex litigation matters and managing multidisciplinary engagement teams.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting records, business operations, financial markets, economic damages methodologies, and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to develop, review, and defend complex financial, economic, damages, and valuation analyses.
- Ability to analyze large or complex datasets and translate findings into clear conclusions for counsel, clients, and expert witnesses.
- Demonstrated success managing senior client relationships and contributing to business development.
- Strong leadership, project management, and staff development skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial and economic analyses clearly.
- Strong judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with data analytics, statistical, or financial research tools is preferred. How You’ll Thrive
