Job Description We are looking for a LaPorte Juvenile Teaching Assistant to support educational programming within a juvenile correctional facility by supervising students, reinforcing classroom instruction, monitoring student progress, and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment. This position will be Full-Time and Onsite in LaPorte, IN . Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered. What You’ll Do

  • Supervise students in the classroom in the absence of the classroom teacher
  • Take attendance and monitor student behavior, assignments, and daily records
  • Provide guidance and support to students in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher
  • Maintain a positive learning environment that supports student growth and development
  • Implement daily and weekly lesson plans designed by the classroom teacher when required
  • Evaluate and monitor student achievement and progress
  • Follow established policies and procedures during critical incidents to prevent injury, escape, or property damage
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and facility information
  • Collaborate with educational staff and other departments to enhance student learning outcomes
  • Prepare written reports and participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Promote positive working relationships with students, staff, contractors, interns, volunteers, and community partners
  • Attend and successfully complete all required training, certifications, and professional development activities
  • Operate and maintain job-related equipment, educational supplies, and instructional materials
  • Perform related duties as assigned What You'll Need Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with students in an educational, correctional, behavioral health, youth services, or related environment
  • Ability to effectively manage and control a classroom environment
  • Ability to implement teacher-developed lesson plans and instructional activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to accept supervision and constructive feedback
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Ability to successfully complete required training and certifications
  • Ability to pass required background screenings and drug testing requirements
  • Proficiency in preparing clear, accurate, and concise reports Preferred:
  • Associate's degree or higher in Education, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Experience working in a juvenile justice, correctional, or alternative education setting
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral or academic challenges
  • Knowledge of classroom behavior management techniques
  • Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams Physical Demands
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
  • Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
