Job Description Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking an energetic, student-centered professional to serve as the Coordinator of Housing and Student Engagement . This position provides leadership for all aspects of campus housing and residential life while fostering a safe, welcoming, and engaging living environment that supports student success, belonging, and retention. The Coordinator of Housing and Student Engagement serves as the primary Student Affairs administrator for campus housing operations and residential facilities. Located at Great Basin College’s main campus in Elko, Nevada, the position works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to create a positive residential experience. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of professional or graduate assistant experience in residence life, housing, student affairs, student success, advising, campus activities, or a related area.
- Experience working directly with college students in a student support, educational, customer service, or residential environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, engagement, and creating an inclusive residential community.
- Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Two or more years of professional experience in residence life, housing, student affairs, or student success.
- Experience supervising Resident Assistants, student employees, peer mentors, or student leaders.
- Experience with student conduct, crisis response, residential programming, and housing operations.
- Experience working at a community college, rural-serving institution, or other student-centered higher education environment Responsibilities:
- The Coordinator is responsible for the overall administration and operation of campus housing, including:
- Managing housing assignments, occupancy, contracts, resident communications, and daily housing operations.
- Leading residential life initiatives that promote student engagement, academic success, wellness, leadership development, and community building.
- Recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating Resident Assistants and student employees.
- Responding to student conduct concerns, behavioral issues, emergencies, and crisis situations while participating in an on-call rotation.
- Serving as the Student Affairs liaison with Facilities Management to coordinate maintenance, renovations, and long-range housing improvements.
- Developing and administering the housing operating budget while ensuring effective stewardship of housing resources.
- Collaborating with Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Counseling and Accessibility Services, the Academic Success Center, Recruitment and Admissions, faculty, and other campus departments to support resident success.
- Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and applicable federal and state regulations related to student housing.
- Assessing housing operations, residential programming, and student outcomes to support continuous improvement
- Other duties as assigned. Compensation Grade Administrative Faculty – B This is a 12 month "A" contract position, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs. The budgeted salary range for this position is $44,756 - $55,000 Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate.
