With 400+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we're just getting started! 👐 About the team Alma Wallet builds the payment experience of the Alma app. With the Alma card, consumers can pay with Alma anywhere, not only at our partner merchants. In the app, they manage their payments with the method of their choice: Apple Pay, Google Pay or local payment methods. By taking Alma beyond our merchant network, the Alma card is one of the company's key strategic bets. You will report to Tony , Senior Engineering Manager, and work closely with Justine, Product Manager, to bring it to life. This position is a CDI based in Paris, with a hybrid work model. 💼 About the job
- Deliver the Alma Wallet roadmap: the Alma card, and bringing new payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Pay, local payment methods), identity verification and Open Banking to the mobile app.
- Lead and grow the Alma Wallet squad by supporting engineers’ development, hiring the right profiles and creating an environment where the team can do its best work.
- Build an effective delivery system by improving team processes, rituals and collaboration with Product, Design and the other Consumer squads.
- Deliver a strategic payment roadmap covering the Alma card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, local payment methods, the consumer point-of-sale experience, identity verification and Open Banking.
- Raise the technical bar and protect reliability through code reviews, technical design discussions and a strong focus on the quality and resilience of payment flows. 🧰 You will work with
- Mobile : Expo / EAS, React Native, TypeScript, TanStack Query, Redux Toolkit, Zod, Reanimated, Jest, Detox. Payment SDKs: Adyen, Stripe, Checkout.com .
- Back-end : Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, Redis, Pub/Sub.
- Infra & observability : GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, Datadog, Sentry, OpenFeature.
- Tools : GitHub, Linear, Notion, Figma. 🧩 About you To succeed in this job
- You have 3+ years of experience managing or leading engineers, including hiring and supporting team development.
- You have strong hands-on technical credibility in mobile or back-end engineering, and are comfortable reviewing code and leading architecture discussions.
- You have experience delivering products in a cross-functional squad with Product and Design.
- You are fluent in both French and English. And it will be nice if you also
- Have experience in fintech or another regulated environment.
- Have worked with payment methods, payment service providers or
Psp SDK
integrations.
- Have contributed to a consumer mobile application used at scale.

- Video screen with Sara, Talent Acquisition Manager — 30–45 minutes to discuss your experience, motivation and the role.
- Experience interview with Tony Miksa, Hiring Manager — 45 minutes to explore your management experience, technical background and fit with the team.
- Coding test with a Software Engineering interviewer — 45–90 minutes, depending on your main programming language.
- System design interview with a Staff Engineer interviewer — 60 minutes to discuss architecture, technical trade-offs and reliability.
- Coffee chat with members of the Consumer tribe — 60 minutes with a combination of Product and Engineering team members.
