Summary About the Position: This position serves in developing and administering the district's safety program covering government and contract operations. This position is located in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Duties

• Make frequent safety surveys to construction, Operations and Maintenance projects, and public use areas to determine whether prescribed safety measures and standards are being applied and to advise on various safety problems.
• Make studies, reports and recommendations pertaining to occupational health and sanitation conditions or programs for government and contractor employees.
• Develop formal studies, evaluations, and actionable recommendations aimed at ensuring robust occupational health and environmental sanitation compliance across government and contractor workforces.
• Participates with Chief, Safety and Occupational Health Office in maintaining a multitude of programs that require intensive data management. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.conducting safety surveys to identify workplace hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards; 2. analyzing accident and injury data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions; and 3. assisting in the administration and promotion of safety and occupational health programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
