Summary This position is located in a National Park Service Unit. Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades. Duties At the full performance level (WG-05) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Utilize a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds. Perform minor plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures. Perform minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Construct, install, repair and replace such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Perform routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed. Receive, unload and process incoming shipments according to established procedures, and report discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. May perform other duties such as painting, masonry work, roofing, welding, or assisting higher grade workers with maintenance of utility systems in the facility. Operate a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites. Qualifications All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/07/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT), Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading), Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment, Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc., Knowledge of materials, Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic), and Use of Measuring Instruments SCREEN OUT: Minimum Qualifications: Perform some maintenance worker duties associated with one trade such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, or another trade appropriate to this position. Performed these duties under dose supervision and subject to frequent inspection. I am able to solve problems and accomplish work assignments in a safe manner. Knowledge of a variety of technical trade terminology, tools, and equipment in one trade area. Possess the ability to use a computer, maintain records, and perform simple arithmetic calculations.
