• Associate Professor Business Title: Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty Position in Electrical Engineering Employee Type: Faculty Position Term: 9 Month Position Details: The Opportunity: The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Washington State University (WSU) on the Pullman, Washington Campus invites applications from emerging scholars to join our community as a permanent, full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Electrical Engineering at the Assistant or Associate Professor level . Although all areas of electrical engineering will be considered, research emphasis will be on power systems, including applications of machine learning and/or cybersecurity to power systems engineering . The electric power engineering program at WSU ranks among the top five in the nation in faculty, student, and research expenditure. WSU’s power program consists of twelve faculty members in EECS and two staff who specialize in teaching and research in electric power engineering. The group includes a member of the National Academy of Engineering and four fellows of IEEE. This core group is complemented by over 20 affiliated faculty members from other departments across the university, together forming the multidisciplinary research center, Energy Systems Innovation Center (ESIC) ( ESIC has a long tradition of close collaboration with the regional power industry and is well-supported by two annual membership programs. The power program’s annual research expenditure is about $3M, with approximately 30 graduate students and multiple postdocs and visiting researchers. The WSU power faculty collaborates closely with the power industry, research institutions worldwide, and various government organizations. Another strength of the WSU power program is the Advanced Grid Institute (AGI), which is a joint institute between WSU and the PNNL dedicated to modernizing the grid ( AGI is envisioned to be the leader in modeling and simulation of the power grid to enable advanced controls and operations for the resilient, sustainable power system of the future. WSU is also a member of the Power System Engineering Research Center (PSERC), which is a consortium of 12 leading universities and 27 industry partners. Summary of Duties: The job duties of successful candidates at all levels include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering; conducting funded research; publishing in top-tier venues; directing M.S. and Ph.D. student research programs; participating in the continuous teaching assessment activities of the School of EECS; effectively communicating and interacting with students; and collaborating with others within the School, the University, or other organizations including regional partners, such as the PNNL. Additional Information: Academic year (9-month) Salary: Assistant Professor Salary Range: $100,000 to $115,000 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications Associate Professor Salary Range: $115,001 to $135,000 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field by the time of hire.
• Demonstrated record of publishing peer-reviewed research work in leading journals and research conferences.

• Demonstrated record of or potential for commitment to an inclusive educational experience in alignment with WSU’s land grant mission. Additional Required Qualifications for Associate Professor Rank:
• Must have served at least six (6) years in academia, industry, or a national lab after Ph.D.

• Excellent communication skills to be an effective instructor for undergraduate and graduate classes in topics related to electric power engineering.
