Description of Work Broughton Hospital is seeking a Nurse Consultant I – Nurse Consultant Accreditation Specialist to support the Quality Risk Management and Compliance (QRMC) department in advancing safe, high‑quality psychiatric patient care. This role serves as a clinical expert in psychiatric/mental health nursing and provides consultation, coaching, and guidance to hospital leaders and staff. The Specialist leads the hospital’s accreditation readiness efforts and ensures continuous compliance with State, Federal, CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards. The position analyzes clinical and incident data, identifies areas for improvement, and recommends corrective actions. It also conducts risk assessments and supports patient‑safety processes, including management of confidential safety information. This role is essential in helping the hospital interpret regulatory requirements, improve systems, and maintain a culture of safety and quality. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $62,044.00 - $102,371.00 Salary Range: $62,044.00 - $102,371.00 *A Sign-on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on Budget Approval. • Experience interpreting Joint Commission, CMS, and/or other regulatory standards Per G.S. 126-5 (c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events. The normal working scheduled for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm; however, flexibility is required for training purposes and to meet the overall needs of the hospital. *Eligibility for the Sign on Bonus To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate. An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
• The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
• The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency

About the Facility Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF).
