General Purpose of the Position: Set up and operate CNC machines and manual machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, program editing, and machining procedures. Does some programming of machines. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
• Machine and inspect parts to specifications.
• Set up, adjust, and operate many specialized tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Ability to accurately measure using micrometers and calipers.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and to determine product dimensions and tolerances.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machining with knowledge of modern cutting tool technologies.
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.
• Ability to do some tool-room type work working with jigs and fixtures.
• Effective time management skills.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment through the use of lean production principles
• Bend and fabricate sheet metal Knowledge you should bring:
• Must be able to program and set up CNC machines with guidance
• Knowledge or prior experience with EZ-CAM software or CAD software helpful
• Previous experience with a programing and using Plasma Table preferred
• Understanding of dimensioning and tolerance.
• Proficient in basic math skills
• Knowledge of dimensioning and GD&T tolerances
• Knowledge of reading blueprints and G-Code
• Knowledge of feeds and speeds used for machining of metals and plastics
• Knowledge of the working properties of metals. Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Prefer Technical Education in Machining
