TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE)

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a field training instructor. Duties Instruct students through assigned units ofinstruction at basic and/or advanced levels. Studies course objectives, technical orders, and other materials to prepare for assigned days of instruction. Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials for basic aircraft pneudralics curriculum. Serves as the subject matter specialist in the development and/or revision of training materials such as study guides, workbooks, written tests, progress checks, etc. Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance. Administers measurement devices and provides feedback to students, and maintains security. Observes student classroom activities and participation. Inputs necessary data into the Field Training Management System (FTMS). Initiates documentation, updates student training records, and schedules resources required for instruction. Maintains professional and technical expertise. Attends courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of training processes and procedures. REQUIREMENT: ***For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Requirement for General Schedule

Skills and Abilities

(KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources, as well as the principles, techniques, and objectives of test and measurement. 2. Extensive practical knowledge of basic aircraft pneudralics systems maintenance associated with line replaceable units, aircraft maintenance procedures, aircraft system theory, common test equipment, aerospace ground equipment, wiring maintenance, common tool usage, Air Force technical orders, safety, security, management and maintenance directives. 3. Knowledge of computer applications. 4. Skill in developing course materials and presenting formal and informal courses and briefings 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
