The Research Assistant will assist the Professor in her scholarly work and coursework related to Constitutional Law and Criminal Procedure. The position entails conducting research, reading sources and determining whether they fit within the research agenda, compiling a bibliography, and proofreading and editing drafts of the professor’s works. Strong legal research, reading comprehension, critical analysis, writing and grammar, organization, time management, and communication skills are necessary for the position. Applicants must be reliable, detail-oriented and thorough, able to work with little supervision, and self-motivated and must provide weekly updates, without being prompted, on the status of research projects. 1. Conduct legal research and searches on the Internet. Organize the sources in logical fashion. 2. Read law review articles and sources. Annotate research and determine whether the sources fit within the professor’s research agenda and thesis for her law review article. 3. Meet with the professor to discuss research. 4. Prepare bibliography of sources. 5. Assist with administrative tasks related to the professor’s scholarly work and coursework. 6. Proofread and edit drafts of the professor’s scholarly works and coursework.
