Position Overview Allegheny County DHS seeks a motivated Full Stack Engineering Intern to contribute to the development and maintenance of our web applications. You will work with modern technologies including React for frontend development and Django for backend services, while gaining hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment serving the residents of Allegheny County. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance features for React-based frontend applications
  • Build and improve backend services using Django
  • Write clear, maintainable code following established coding standards and best practices
  • Create and maintain technical documentation in Confluence
  • Track work items, bugs, and features using Jira
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with the engineering team
  • Assist with testing, debugging, and troubleshooting application issues Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related program
  • Familiarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, REST APIs)
  • Ability to write clear documentation
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Skills & Qualifications (having one or none of these is fine)
  • Basic knowledge of JavaScript/React fundamentals
  • Understanding of Python and Django framework basics
  • SQL and relational database experience
  • Microsoft Azure cloud platform knowledge
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices
  • Previous internship or project-based development experience What You'll Gain
