The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) IT Governance, Risk, Compliance and Integration Director provides leadership for IT governance, risk and compliance, and cross-functional integration activities that strengthen organizational alignment, accountability, decision-making, and operational resilience. Reporting to the Vice President of PMO, Innovation, and IT Integration, this role partners closely with IT and business leaders to establish and mature governance frameworks, coordinate technology risk and compliance activities, ensure audit readiness, support operational planning and performance management, and advance technology priorities. The Director helps ensure enterprise technology initiatives are effectively governed, aligned, communicated, and executed in support of WWP's mission, strategic objectives, and responsible stewardship of technology investments. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead IT integration and governance activities that strengthen enterprise alignment, operational efficiency, risk management, and decision-making across cybersecurity, infrastructure, architecture, data, AI, and business technology functions.
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance Functions:
  • Partner with the Senior Information Security Officer and IT leadership teams to support cybersecurity operations and strategy from risk management and governance perspectives. This role is not responsible for risk remediation but must work with the cybersecurity team to identify, prioritize, and track risks.
  • Partner with the VP of Infrastructure, Architecture, and Cybersecurity and IT leadership teams to support cybersecurity strategy, prioritize work effectively, monitor delivery metrics, identify risks, dependencies, and resource constraints, and promote sustainable team capacity through effective resource planning.
  • Serve as the lead coordinator for IT governance, compliance, audit readiness, and technology risk management activities, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective oversight, remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish, mature, and coordinate governance frameworks, policies, standards, steering committees, and oversight mechanisms for cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data governance, architecture, vendor risk management, disaster recovery, and technology compliance.
  • Establish, mature, and coordinate IT risk management capabilities, including scheduling, planning, conducting, and reporting risk assessments and tracking risks in a risk register.
  • Lead audit readiness and oversight activities, including penetration tests, program assessments, health checks, policy compliance reviews, disaster recovery validation, tabletop exercises, remediation tracking, and executive-level reporting.
  • Support cybersecurity functions, including third-party pentesting, vulnerability management, and input into roadmaps and strategy.
  • Integration Functions:
  • Serve as a key integrator across cybersecurity, infrastructure, architecture, data, AI, and business technology functions, facilitating alignment, communication, decision-making, and execution of shared priorities, risks, and dependencies.
  • Manage IT performance, metrics, and communications by coordinating monthly and biweekly IT reports, departmental KPIs, governance metrics for the IT senior leadership team, CIO, and Board, accomplishment notices, Mission Central updates, and third-party governance of software, infrastructure/operations, cybersecurity, and data metrics.
  • Coordinate department-wide planning and operational management activities, including budget planning, contract oversight, benchmarking, workforce planning, succession planning, annual performance management activities, and special projects as assigned.
  • Lead IT change management and senior leadership meeting coordination to ensure priorities, decisions, dependencies, risks, and follow-up actions are clearly communicated and advanced across IT and business stakeholders.
  • Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.

  • Demonstrated expertise in IT governance, technology compliance, technology risk management, audit coordination, policy management, and cross-functional technology oversight.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to chair governance forums, guide decision-making, build consensus, and drive accountability across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives requiring coordination across cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, AI, finance, legal, audit, procurement, and business teams.
  • Experience developing, maturing, and administering governance frameworks, operating models, policies, procedures, standards, metrics, scorecards, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Strong strategic-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks, evaluate alternatives, and develop actionable recommendations that support organizational priorities and operational effectiveness.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex technology, risk, compliance, and governance topics to executive leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate competing demands, and ensure timely execution of initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze performance metrics, governance data, audit findings, and operational trends to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build trusted partnerships, drive accountability, and promote collaboration across teams while maintaining a mission-focused, service-oriented approach.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change, improve operational processes, and support enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound independent judgment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Seven years of progressive experience in information technology, including significant experience in cybersecurity governance, compliance, audit coordination, technology risk management, or related technology leadership functions.
  • Five years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives, governance processes, risk tracking, policy management, or technology integration efforts.
  • Five years of staff management experience.
