Summary This position is located at the Automotive Skills Center. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives not be be paid. Duties
- Identifies improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment.
- Determine whether parts should be cleaned or replaced.
- Install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and tests the completed product.
- Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides. Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1. Be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds (occasionally, move objects over 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices). 2. Possess a valid motor vehicle operators driver's license. 3. Have work experience performing the identified duties (Repairing or replacing improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment; install, adjust and set automotive systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and tests the completed products.) 4. Be able to work independently. This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position. Skill and Knowledge: Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components. Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used. Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": 1. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications OR 2. A valid New York State Motor Vehicle Inspector's License The experience/education/certification must be reflected on your resume and your degree/transcript/certification uploaded at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate. Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official.
