Summary: In this role, you will provide technical leadership and oversight for enterprise data governance, catalog, metadata, lineage, and data-access capabilities across Vizient. You will be responsible for the integrity, standardization, and technical governance of data by applying industry standards, developing mapping methodologies, and establishing consistent approaches for member and external data feeds. You will define technical standards and platform solutions for metadata, data cataloging, lineage, classification, data quality, and access controls while partnering with the Chief Privacy Officer and other stakeholders to support data security and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA. This role will lead technical data-governance architecture, platform adoption, cross-functional delivery, and the development of reusable standards that support trusted and secure data across the organization. Responsibilities :

  • Own the enterprise catalog-governance architecture, technical direction, standards, roadmap, backlog, prioritization, and adoption outcomes.
  • Define the technical representation of approved metadata semantics, catalog standards, lineage implementation standards, data classifications, governed tags, certifications, and governance-platform patterns.
  • Design future-state technical platform solutions that support metadata, lineage, classification, data quality monitoring, catalog reporting, and data-access governance requirements.
  • Translate business, data-governance, privacy, and security requirements into technical architecture, configuration standards, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
  • Provide technical direction for the integrity and standardization of technical data, including member and external data feeds, industry standards, and data-mapping methodologies.
  • Define data-access control approaches in partnership with the Chief Privacy Officer and ensure alignment with data-security requirements and regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Lead complex initiatives spanning Data Governance, Cloud Operations, Data Engineering, access governance, security, privacy, and business domains.
  • Define technical acceptance criteria and validation approaches; review semantic validation and technical validation to determine governance readiness before production deployment.
  • Own the enterprise catalog-adoption strategy and remain accountable for platform adoption, data-governance outcomes, and continuous improvement across priority domains.
  • Advise stakeholders on architecture, platform capabilities, technical risks, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
  • Mentor engineers, analysts, and governance practitioners involved in catalog, metadata, lineage, and data-governance delivery.
  • Represent the governance function in architecture, platform-planning, technical-design, and enterprise data discussions. Qualifications:
  • At least a high school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in technology, data management, computer science, or a related field preferred.
  • 7 or more years of experience in data governance, data architecture, metadata management, data cataloging, data engineering, or related technology functions required.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise data catalogs, metadata, lineage, data-governance, or comparable platform capabilities required.
  • Strong architecture experience across technical metadata, data platforms, governance controls, integrations, data-access controls, and operating models required.
  • Ability to translate business and governance requirements into technical designs, standards, acceptance criteria, and delivery plans required.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives without relying solely on formal authority required.
  • Experience working with data engineering, cloud and platform operations, security, access governance, privacy, and business stakeholders required.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to executive and non-technical audiences required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish reusable standards and drive adoption across multiple teams or business domains required. Preferred Experience :
  • Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog or a comparable enterprise data-catalog platform preferred.
  • Experience with lineage, metadata management, business glossaries, classification, governed tags, certification, or data-quality monitoring preferred.
  • Experience integrating catalog governance with access-policy, data-security, privacy, or compliance controls preferred.
  • Experience defining testing, validation, change-management, or production-readiness processes for data-governance capabilities preferred.
  • Architecture, cloud, data engineering, security, privacy, or governance certifications relevant to the role preferred. #LI-JB1 Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $117,600.00 to $206,000.00. This position is also incentive eligible. Vizient has a comprehensive benefits plan!
