Summary: The RF Test Technician tests, troubleshoots, and assembles RF/microwave components and modules operating from DC to 40 GHz+ in a high-tech manufacturing environment. Works independently from test procedures, sets up and calibrates test stations, and meets production shipments by tuning and executing manual and automated tests. Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is $30-45/hour. Responsibilities
- Test, troubleshoot, and mechanically assemble RF components and modules (filters, mixers, switches, amplifiers, LNAs, multi-chip modules, subsystems)
- Meet production shipping deadlines to meet site revenue demands
- Operate lab equipment including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes, noise figure meters, and multimeters
- Set up and calibrate manual and computer-controlled test stations independently
- Perform thermal and environmental testing; debug moderately complex problems
- Work from schematics, drawings, work instructions, and operating procedures
- Record and maintain test data; review datasheets and test reports per Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs)
- Assemble breadboards, test fixtures, and wiring harnesses; basic hand soldering
- Communicate clearly with assembly & production staff, engineering, management, and other technicians Required Qualifications
- Experience working under a microscope with small hand tools for extended periods
- Previous experience tuning and shipping RF modules
- 5+ years of RF/microwave component or module testing, or an associate degree / military electronics training with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Solid grasp of electronic circuit fundamentals and RF measurements (return loss, insertion loss, rejection, gain, noise figure, P1dB, intermodulation, harmonics, spurious)
- Ability to read block diagrams, schematics, and device layouts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- U.S. citizenship (or eligible status under U.S. export regulations) and ability to obtain a government security clearance Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics
- Experience handling classified information and working in a closed room environment
- Understanding of RF circuit concepts such as filter topologies and impedance matching
- Experience with automated test systems
- Experience in mechanical assembly of RF sub systems Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in an electronics manufacturing and engineering laboratory environment.
- The position requires regular use of RF test equipment, microscopes, hand tools, soldering equipment, specialized fixtures, and production documentation.
- Work may involve handling electronic components and assemblies in controlled manufacturing or electrostatic-discharge-protected areas.
- Regular on-site presence is required to support engineering development, production testing, technician training, and manufacturing operations.
