Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. Duties Supports the Buyer in managing assigned merchandise categories to achieve sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, and other financial objectives. Assists with product and vendor selection, pricing, promotions, inventory management, purchase orders, markdowns, and merchandise execution. Analyzes sales, inventory, and merchandise performance to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring action. Supports monthly open-to-buy management and maintains appropriate inventory levels for assigned lines of business. Develops and maintains vendor relationships, coordinates product reviews, and assists with negotiations involving pricing, terms, delivery, promotional support, freight, markdown allowances, advertising, training, and other vendor support. Supports merchandise selection and inventory planning for promotions and advertising. Coordinates product information, samples, promotional documentation, and merchandise allocation to ensure advertised merchandise is available in stores in appropriate quantities and on time. Maintains replenishment assortments and develops knowledge of merchandise systems, replenishment, allocation, and distribution to support inventory productivity and store execution. Communicates merchandise direction, promotions, pricing, product information, and execution requirements to MCX stores through other approved communication channels. Assists the Buyer in evaluating category and store performance, identifying merchandising opportunities, and recommending actions to improve sales, margin, inventory productivity, and operational execution. Coordinates with Planning, Allocation, Store Operations, Logistics, Marketing, EDI, IT, Retail Support Group, and other MCCS partners to ensure effective execution of merchandising initiatives. Assists with planning and execution of markdowns and ensures price changes are accurate, timely, and effectively communicated to stores. Under the direction of the Buyer, may assume buying responsibility for assigned merchandise classifications. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Take action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Qualifications Two (2) years of experience in retail buying, inventory management, merchandise planning, or a related field that demonstrates the knowledge and skills required for the position. Relevant education may substitute for experience where appropriate. Ability to become familiar and comply with DoW, Department of the Navy, and Marine Corps directives, policies, and regulations covering retail operations. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages of Excel, and Power Point. Requirements See Duties and Qualifications
