• 40 hours per week with no minimum guarantee. This is a developmental position. The target position/grade is Recreation Assistant (Wood Craft), NF-0189-02. Duties Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Wood Crafts center. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists shop users with wood craft development and work procedures. Performs minor assembly of customers manufactured items. Assists with inventories, performs visual checks on equipment and monitors customers for compliance with safety and operating standards. Assists in placing special orders and prepares job sheets. Verifies shop users qualifications for machinery use. As needed operates a variety of wood shop machinery to perform minor modifications to customers projects, i.e., sanders, cutters, drill press, table saw, etc. and hand power tools. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issues receipts. At the end of tach shift closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits documents to supervisor. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance of crafts. Performs other relates duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Recreation Aid (NF-01) Practical knowledge of recreation activities, rules and procedures is desirable. Must be able to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurements. Ability to safeguard and handle cash and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable. Recreation Assistant (NF-02) Must have practical knowledge and experience of recreation activities equipment, rules and procedures which involve recreational work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned (wood shop experience). Must have a clear speaking voice and be able to deal with the public. Must have experience with a Point of Sale (POS) system. Knowledge of office automation software. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
