Adjunct Part-Time Professor, Political Science/Urban Studies

Job Family Group: Faculty Time Type: Part time Department/Office: Sociology & Anthropology Exemption Status: Exempt Job Description: Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty for the Spring 2027 semester to teach the following course: PLSI 34/URBS 3416: Urban Politics An exploration of the urban space, including the politics, institutions, power centers, policies, and the people who live in urban environments. Emphasis is given to why cities matter, how cities are organized, how cities operate as an economic engine, and how cities shape identity and experiences while producing inequality. Contemporary urban issues are considered, such as demographic changes, community power, and public transportation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities of part-time faculty members include but are not limited to:

• Developing the course syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets departmental and University standards
• Designing and delivering lectures, discussions, in-class activities, and assignments
• Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams
• Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines
• Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director
• Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services
• Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin EDUCATION Required: Masters degree or equivalent in political science, urban studies, or a related field. EXPERIENCE Preferred: University teaching/classroom experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Ability to deliver engaging lectures, discussions, or in-class activities
• Ability to design rigorous and meaningful assignments
