Summary About the Position: This position is with the Defense Commissary Agency, Vilseck Commissary located in Vilseck, Germany. The incumbent serves as the first line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary store, responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations. Duties

  • Direct and control the operations and personnel of the commissary front end customer service department.
  • Monitor and supervise all register transactions.
  • Modify schedules based on personnel capabilities, planned and emergency leave schedules, and position vacancies.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates.
  • Identify training needs and work to ensure the needs are met.
  • Respond to customer questions and issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Complete, review and file a variety of forms and reports which account for daily operations which serve as control records for the receipt and deposit of all transactions
  • electronic or cash.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of front end area and operations to ensure compliance with local safety, fire, security, and sanitation regulations and procedures. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level to include experience; Leading and training other employees as a regular assignment; Planning work for employees; Performing warehouse inventory; Assisting Store Associates; And providing instructions on administrative matters. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Administration and Management Technical Documentation Leadership Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
