Data Analyst Lead

Brown & Brown is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to join our growing team! The Lead Data Analyst – Retail Digital Innovation & Insights Group serves as the primary analytical partner and point of contact for retail leadership data requests. This role is responsible for translating leadership questions into clear analytical requirements, delivering timely and accurate insights, and ensuring that retail leaders have trusted information to support commercial performance, operational execution, and strategic decision-making. The role combines strong analytical expertise, business acumen, stakeholder management, and narrative-driven insight delivery. The individual will partner closely with the Head of Data Insights, retail leadership, BI developers, data engineering, and business stakeholders to manage intake, prioritize demand, and deliver high-quality analysis aligned to enterprise reporting standards. How You Will Contribute:

• Act as the primary point person for retail leadership data requests, ensuring questions are clarified, prioritized, tracked, and delivered with appropriate urgency and quality.
• Translate business questions into analytical plans, data requirements, success measures, and executive-ready outputs.
• Deliver recurring and ad hoc analysis on retail performance, producer productivity, book segmentation, sales activity, revenue, margin, operational trends, and leadership priorities.
• Create clear narratives, visual summaries, and recommendations that help leaders understand performance drivers, risks, opportunities, and next actions.
• Partner with BI, data engineering, and data product teams to ensure leadership-facing reporting is accurate, consistent, and aligned to governed metric definitions.
• Identify opportunities to convert repeated ad hoc requests into scalable dashboards, curated datasets, or standardized self-service reporting assets.
• Maintain strong knowledge of retail business processes, data sources, definitions, and known data quality considerations.
• Mentor analysts on analytical approach, storytelling, stakeholder communication, and quality assurance practices. Skills and Experience to be Successful:
• 5–8+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, financial analysis, retail analytics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with senior business stakeholders and translate complex business questions into actionable analysis.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with governed datasets, semantic models, reporting layers, or enterprise data warehouses.
• Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and data storytelling skills. Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, finance, business, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• Experience in insurance brokerage, retail operations, financial services, or similarly complex matrixed environments.
• Experience with data governance, metric definition, data quality review, and executive dashboard quality assurance.
