Summary About the Position: Serves as the principal Management Assistant to the Chief of Engineering and Construction Division and to branch chiefs and staff in administrative matters. Utilizes a practical understanding of mission requirements and priorities, policies, organization structure, functions, procedures, processes and principles of management. Duties

  • Prepares requests for Personnel Actions, Travel Orders, Training Requests, Purchase Requests and Commitments and determines appropriate fund cite for Division and Branch personnel using the Corps of Engineers Financial Management Systems (CEFMS).
  • Examines travel vouchers for accuracy, reports discrepancies to appropriate supervisor and requests appropriate approvals.
  • Maintains a master file of original documents and receipts for travel vouchers approved by the Chief.
  • Drafts standard operating procedures (SOPs), policy statements, guidance, instructions and applicable directives.
  • Maintains records in accordance with Army Records and Information Management System (ARIMS).
  • Interprets regulations and changes in procedures and prepares and disseminates office operating procedures and updates as required to ensure accuracy. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing administrative support functions, including preparing travel orders, travel vouchers, personnel actions, training requests, and purchase requests; 2) Preparing a variety of correspondence and reports; AND 3) Utilizing a variety of software and databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
