Torch Technologies is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Radar Systems Design Engineer to support advanced defense and engineering programs. This role involves performing system-level evaluations and contributing to mission-critical test execution in a fast-paced, technical environment. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Radar Systems Design Engineer your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing plans and reports to ensure system and software operations comply with requirements and design specifications.
- Perform system-level analysis to identify performance issues and optimization opportunities.
- Performing detailed performance analyses, generating actionable insights, and recommending architectural or algorithmic improvements.
- Translate technical requirements into test cases for live-fire or simulation environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve system performance and reliability.
- Support troubleshooting efforts across distributed systems and infrastructure.
- Assist in planning and engineering tasks to meet program deadlines.
- Provide strategic technical direction and oversight during weekly Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings with vendors to ensure design alignment and milestone adherence.
- Advise on the technical agenda items during weekly Test Planning meetings with the project office, ensuring test objectives are comprehensive and program goals are met.
- Advise as technical authority at Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) with vendors, resolving complex engineering conflicts and driving design maturity.
- Participate in engineering and record testing at Army test facilities, which may include Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG) and White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), providing real-time technical evaluation and on-site decision-making. Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 15+ years of progressively complex software engineering experience.
- A proven track record of designing and deploying complex radar/sensor systems; recognized expertise in the full system lifecycle.
- Ability to communicate directly to senior leadership at times and influence vendor technical roadmaps.
- Extensive experience supporting large-scale system testing, validation, and verification in ruggedized Army environments.
- Candidate must currently possess a DoW SECRET clearance.
