YOU The Human Resources Generalist supports employees and leaders across a broad range of HR functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, policy administration, compliance, Workday administration, and employee lifecycle support. This role serves as a trusted partner, helping create a positive employee experience while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws. The Human Resources Generalist continually seeks opportunities to improve processes, enhance service delivery, and support the success of employees and managers across Columbus and the satellite locations in Maryland, Connecticut, and Minnesota.

What You’ll Be Doing

(% of Time) Enhance Employee Performance, Development, and Workplace Effectiveness (40%)

  • Provide support in employee and labor relations, performance management, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution while ensuring consistent application of company policies and practices.
  • Administer time and attendance programs and support corrective action, disciplinary action, and termination processes.
  • Support employee development through performance evaluations, coaching, career growth, promotions and internal mobility opportunities.
  • Facilitate and support training and development initiatives that enhance employee capability and organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance on compensation practices, compensation guidelines, and pay-related decisions.
  • Partner with union representatives and leaders to administer Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) and support effective labor relations.
  • Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives that strengthen the employee experience and support business objectives. Attract, Hire, and Engage a No Equal Workforce (20%)
  • Work with leaders to create and maintain concise, well-written job descriptions to ensure team and department responsibilities are accurately reflected. Respectfully challenge leaders on skills, competencies, and experience requirements to ensure appropriate job leveling and workforce planning.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of level guides to ensure employees understand the skills and competencies required for effectiveness and advancement.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Hiring Managers throughout the recruiting and selection process, including interviewing and candidate evaluation.
  • Suggest and adapt efficient and effective sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning practices.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with contingent workforce vendors and serve as the functional contact for temporary workforce matters. Ensure vendor compliance with applicable employment regulations, including Affordable Care Act requirements. Elevate Employee Capabilities and Prepare the Next Generation Workforce (20%)
  • Drive participation and engagement in Learning and Development programs to strengthen leadership effectiveness and organizational capability.
  • Support, coordinate, and/or facilitate onsite leadership, employee, compliance, and professional development training.
  • Partner with leaders to identify development needs, recommend learning solutions, and support succession planning efforts. Implement Sustainable and Scalable HR Processes, Compliance, and Programs (20%)
  • Administer Human Resources programs and services, including compensation, benefits, employment processes, compliance, training support, workforce analytics, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support employee leaves of absence, workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, and other employment-related claims in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, consistency, and employee service delivery.
  • Support the implementation of policies, programs, organizational initiatives, and change management efforts while fostering an inclusive, engaging, and values-based culture.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company policies, practices, and employment regulations.

Desired Skills and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience supporting employees and leaders across a broad range of HR disciplines. Preferred
  • HR partnership in a Union environment and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Planning and organizing. Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently while providing guidance and training to others on planning, organizing, prioritizing and overseeing activities to efficiently meet business objectives
  • Experience utilizing Workday and UKG (or similar HRIS and workforce management systems) to support HR processes, reporting, employee data management, and workforce administration.
  • HR Certification such as: HRCI/SHRM related Certification
