Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering

Anderson University and the College of Engineering invites applications for a full-time, 9-month faculty position in Engineering with emphasis in Autonomous Systems, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Controls, Sensing, or a closely related field. The appointment may be made as a tenure-track Assistant Professor or as a Professor of Practice, depending on qualifications and experience. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates with substantial teaching, research, and/or industry experience may be considered for appointment at an advanced rank. The anticipated start date is January 2027 or August 2027. The successful candidate will contribute broadly to the undergraduate engineering curriculum while providing particular support for an Autonomous Systems track that includes courses and student experiences in areas such as microcontroller interfacing, robotics and autonomous systems, machine learning, autonomous vehicles, embedded systems, signals and systems, controls, sensing, and hardware/software integration. Candidates with expertise in autonomous systems, robotics, embedded systems, controls, sensing and instrumentation, signal processing, machine learning, computer engineering, intelligent vehicles, or related areas are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities may include foundational engineering courses as well as upper-level courses such as digital systems, circuits, embedded systems, signals and systems, controls, microcontroller interfacing, robotics and autonomous systems, machine learning for engineers, autonomous vehicles, capstone design, and related electives. For a tenure-track appointment, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Systems Engineering, General Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is required. Candidates with a master’s degree in engineering may be considered for appointment as Instructor. For appointment as Professor of Practice, a master’s degree in engineering or a closely related field is required, along with extensive relevant industry experience. The College seeks candidates with a record of, or strong potential for, impactful undergraduate teaching; commitment to hands-on, project-based engineering education; and interest in mentoring students through laboratory, design, internship, and capstone experiences. Industry experience, applied research, professional licensure, or experience with autonomous systems, robotics, embedded systems, or intelligent vehicle technologies is strongly preferred.
