To learn more about our department, watch our video: City of Florence Public Services Position Overview The Sewer Utility Operator plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the City’s sanitary sewer and stormwater systems. This hands-on position supports the operation, maintenance, and repair of utility infrastructure while helping ensure safe, reliable service to the Florence community. The role offers the opportunity to work with specialized equipment and technology while developing a broad range of technical skills. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, dependable, willing to learn, and prepared to respond to the changing operational needs of the Public Services Department. Compensation & Benefits

• On-call after-hours emergency response
• Maintain safe work zones including traffic control and confined space entries
• Identify specific hand tools and their proper applications
• Navigate GIS web maps for field work and asset identification
• Safely operate specialty vehicles and equipment such as high-pressure sewer jetters, combination cleaner truck, and CCTV equipment
• Maintain various nozzles and understand their applications per situation and pipe material
• Perform pump station maintenance including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs
• Manage assigned tasks and generate daily totals
• At the end of your first year, success would mean acclimation to the types of service provided by the department, including knowledge of utility ownership and the preventative maintenance/repairs required to continue providing Florence residents first-class service Education & Experience Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices Special Requirements
• Valid Driver’s License with insurability to operate City vehicles
• Ability to obtain a Class

• Maintain visual acuity to identify hazards and read documentation
