Senior Manager, Technical Project & Program Management Role Overview The Senior Manager, Technical Project & Program Management leads strategic semiconductor optical inspection and metrology product-development programs from concept through qualification, product release, and customer adoption. This leader drives successful execution through effective application of the Applied Materials Product Development Process (PDP), rigorous program-management practices, cross-functional alignment, and proactive risk management. Working across engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, finance, field organizations, customers, suppliers, and executive stakeholders, the role ensures critical product and technology capabilities are delivered in alignment with business objectives. Key Responsibilities · Lead large, complex, multi-year optical inspection and metrology product-development programs with accountability for execution, technology readiness, product maturity, and customer success. · Develop program strategies, integrated roadmaps, resource plans, and execution plans aligned with business and technology objectives. · Build and drive integrated program plans across engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, finance, suppliers, and customers. · Drive schedule, cost, quality, investment, and risk performance throughout the product-development lifecycle. · Lead cross-functional execution across hardware, software, Systems Engineering, applications, product management, and field organizations. · Drive system integration, verification, evaluation, qualification, and product-adoption activities. · Ensure disciplined execution within the Applied Materials PDP framework and established business operating rhythms. · Provide executive-level visibility through program reviews, dashboards, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations. · Anticipate and resolve technical, organizational, supplier, and program risks before they impact business objectives. Technical & Functional Expertise · Demonstrated success leading complex semiconductor optical inspection and metrology equipment programs. · Strong understanding of semiconductor process development and the role of optical inspection and metrology in technology enablement and process control. · Proven experience advancing products through concept development, system integration, evaluation, qualification, product release, and customer adoption. · Expertise leading programs spanning hardware, software, systems integration, and multiple engineering disciplines. · Strong understanding of Systems Engineering, technology readiness, lifecycle management, and product-development processes. · Ability to evaluate alternatives and manage trade-offs involving performance, schedule, cost, quality, risk, and customer requirements. · Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive decision-support capabilities. Business & Strategic Leadership · Align program execution with business strategy, product roadmaps, customer requirements, and technology-development objectives. · Translate technical, business, and market considerations into clear priorities and investment decisions. · Guide resource allocation and investment planning using program performance, technical readiness, and business priorities. · Partner with senior leaders across engineering, product management, finance, operations, and supply chain to achieve business objectives. · Present executive leadership with clear recommendations, trade-offs, risks, and investment considerations. People & Organizational Leadership · Lead leaders and large cross-functional teams within a global matrixed organization. · Provide direct leadership and development for organizational leaders and their teams, including oversight of the Systems Engineering organization through its leadership structure. · Ensure alignment among technical execution, program objectives, system integration activities, and business priorities. · Develop technical, program, and functional leaders while strengthening organizational capability. · Drive accountability, collaboration, ownership, and execution excellence across stakeholders. Impact & Scope · Influence technology readiness, product maturity, customer success, and business results through successful program execution. · Shape priorities, resource allocation, and investment decisions through program leadership and execution insights. · Improve technology-development velocity by ensuring critical optical inspection and metrology capabilities are delivered at the required performance, quality, cost, and maturity levels. · Operate with broad autonomy and accountability for program outcomes. · Strengthen cross-functional execution and organizational effectiveness through leadership, alignment, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications · Significant semiconductor industry experience leading complex optical inspection, optical metrology, process-control, or related equipment-development programs. · Proven track record delivering complex technology programs from concept through customer adoption. · Demonstrated success leading global, cross-functional organizations through significant technical and business challenges. · Experience managing programs involving substantial technical complexity, investment, supplier dependencies, and organizational scope. · Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence senior technical and business leaders. · Strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to communicate risks, options, recommendations, and decisions to senior leadership. · Ability to lead through both direct organizational responsibility and matrix influence. · Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred. Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time Relocation Eligible: Yes The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
