Term Faculty | Sports Media Production

Join our community and experience Emerson College! Emerson College’s Department of Journalism seeks to hire a full-time term faculty member in the area of Sports Media Production. Based in the Journalism Department within the School of Communication, this faculty member will teach on the Boston campus. The appointment begins August 19, 2027, with a mandatory two-day orientation on August 19 & 20, 2027. This faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in our Sports Media Production concentration in the Journalism major, which also includes Sports Journalism, Live Event Production, and other related courses. The faculty member will also collaborate on a new School-based, College-wide academic center focused on sports leadership, management, communication, and media. College-level teaching experience is preferred. We seek an accomplished sports media professional who will develop new courses and help develop this innovative program for the rapidly growing area of Sports Media Production. Mentoring cross-disciplinary students interested in a sports media production career is also important. Candidates who can teach sports media courses in the department’s online graduate program are encouraged to apply. Applicants should hold at least a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field and have professional sports media production experience covering major live sporting events. A terminal master’s degree or higher is preferred but not required. Applicants should demonstrate a record of innovative work in sports media production, reflecting expertise across multiple platforms, formats, social media, and streaming media, as well as working knowledge of fandom, sports production companies, player branding, and emerging technologies. This person will also be expected to strengthen relationships with sports industry partners and develop new ones.
