Roadway Design Civil Engineering Co-Op

Gain practical experience in transportation engineering with our team as a Roadway Design Engineer Co-op. In this role, you'll work alongside early career and experienced engineers to gain an understanding of roadway design and consulting. You'll gain hands-on experience across areas that could include geometric design, safety studies or multi-modal design while developing technical skills and problem-solving abilities that will create a foundation for your career. What You’ll Do

• Under the direction of experienced technical staff, you’ll learn design and analysis skills for a variety of roadway engineering design projects for state DOTs and/or local municipalities
• Projects may include preliminary roadway studies, roadway and highway geometric design, traffic or safety analysis, interchange, urban street and multi-modal design
• Assist engineers with preparing studies and developing reports
• Assist engineers with project scoping and final design, such as developing construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications using design tools such as MicroStation and AutoCAD Skills & Qualifications
• Current undergraduate student in good academic standing pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program and completion of one year coursework required
• A strong interest in transportation engineering; previous co-ops are a plus
• Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Ability to learn PDF markup/review tools, such as BlueBeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat
• Ability to learn MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD/Civil3D drawing software packages, direct experience is a plus
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate, learn, and grow
• Availability to work full-time Spring Semester Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday, 30 – 40 hours per week. Housing and transportation to/from work is the responsibility of the co-op, parking is provided.
