Show Calling & Technical Operations
- Call and execute all production cues, including lighting, sound, video, automation, illusions, and special effects.
- Monitor the technical execution of each performance and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize disruption and maintain show continuity.
- Maintain accurate and current production documentation, including cue sheets, run-of-show documents, technical paperwork, and show-specific procedures.
- Communicate technical issues, changes, or concerns to the appropriate production personnel and management in a timely manner. Illusions & Specialty Equipment
- With the Production Stage Manager, oversee the safe operation, maintenance, presetting, and secure handling of all illusions, magic props, and specialty equipment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding proprietary illusion methods, technical processes, and production techniques.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all FDNY regulations and requirements to maintain the production’s special effects permits and certifications. Communication & Reporting
- Prepare and distribute accurate daily performance reports, rehearsal notes, incident reports, and relevant technical updates to producers and management.
- Escalate technical, operational, personnel, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate member of management.
- Ensure relevant information is clearly communicated between performers, backstage personnel, technical departments, venue staff, and management. Safety & Show Standards
- Maintain consistency with established artistic, technical, and production standards throughout the run.
- Ensure performers and crew follow established operating procedures for illusions, specialty equipment, and backstage activities.
- Enforce company safety policies, venue regulations, approved operating procedures, and applicable industry best practices.
- Identify and report potential hazards, equipment deficiencies, or unsafe practices and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Ensure incidents, injuries, equipment failures, and near misses are documented and reported in accordance with company procedures.
- Promote a safe working environment for cast, crew, venue personnel, and audiences at all times.
