Senior Resident - Neuro Science & Critical Care

Designation: Senior Resident – Neuro Anaesthesia Department: Neuro Anaesthesia Location: Max Super Specialty Hospital, Dwarka Reporting To: HOD / Senior Consultant – Neuro Anaesthesia Job Summary The Senior Resident – Neuro Anaesthesia will be responsible for providing safe and effective anaesthesia and peri-operative care to patients undergoing neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures. The role will involve exposure to complex neuroanaesthesia cases, Neuro ICU management, emergency care and close coordination with the Neurosurgery, Neurology and Critical Care teams. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-anaesthesia evaluation and assess patients for neurological and systemic risk factors.
• Assist in planning and administration of anaesthesia for elective and emergency neurosurgical procedures.
• Provide anaesthesia support for cranial, spine, vascular, trauma and other neurosurgical procedures.
• Monitor patients intra-operatively, including haemodynamic and neurological parameters, and ensure patient stability.
• Assist in management of difficult airway and high-risk neurological patients.
• Manage intra-operative anaesthesia-related emergencies and provide appropriate resuscitation when required.
• Provide post-operative anaesthesia care and coordinate with Neuro ICU/ICU teams for critically ill patients.
• Participate in the management of post-operative neurosurgical and neurocritical care patients.
• Assist in mechanical ventilation, sedation, analgesia, fluid and electrolyte management and other critical care interventions as required.
• Participate in emergency and on-call duties for OT, Neuro ICU and other assigned areas.
• Maintain accurate documentation of pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia records and post-operative instructions.
• Work closely with Neurosurgeons, Neurologists, Intensivists, nursing staff and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Participate in academic activities including case discussions, journal clubs, CME programmes and departmental teaching.
• Support teaching and supervision of Junior Residents, interns and other clinical staff.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
• Follow hospital policies, clinical protocols and patient-safety practices. Qualification
• MBBS with MD/DNB in Anaesthesiology from a recognized institution.
• Additional training/fellowship in Neuro Anaesthesia / Neurocritical Care will be preferred.
• Valid medical registration as applicable.
