Description Full-Time Position 4 day work weeks (10 hour days)

Position Summary

The Women's Health Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in the delivery of safe, compassionate, and efficient women's health services. The Medical Assistant assists with patient intake, examinations, procedures, specimen collection, patient education, documentation, and coordination of care. The Women's Health Medical Assistant works as part of the healthcare team while maintaining patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respect. The position requires professionalism and sensitivity when caring for patients throughout all stages of women's health. Requirements

Essential Functions

Patient Care

  • Welcome and room patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Verify patient identity and obtain appropriate demographic and health information.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and other appropriate measurements.
  • Obtain and document medication, allergy, medical, surgical, social, and reproductive histories as directed.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures while maintaining privacy and dignity.
  • Assist providers with routine women's health examinations and procedures.
  • Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the provider or appropriate clinical staff.
  • Provide basic patient education and instructions as directed by the provider.
  • Reinforce provider instructions regarding medications, procedures, follow-up appointments, and other care plans.
  • Assist with screening and preventive health services as directed.
  • Prepare examination and procedure rooms and ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available.
  • Assist with minor office procedures.
  • Collect, label, handle, and prepare laboratory specimens according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tests and specimen collection.
  • Clean and disinfect examination rooms and equipment according to infection prevention procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate stock of medical supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be ordered. Experience/Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Women's health or OB/GYN experience required.
