The Opportunity: Are you passionate about logistics, inventory management, and supporting complex Defence projects? We are seeking a motivated Senior Inventory Officer to join our team at Victoria Barracks, Melbourne, where you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery and introduction into service of critical Defence capabilities. As an Senior Inventory Officer, you will be responsible for providing inventory management, codification, cataloguing, and logistics support across a range of Land projects. You will play a key role in ensuring Defence equipment is accurately accounted for, brought into service, and successfully transitioned to operational units. Working within a high-performing project team, you'll collaborate closely with Integrated Logistics Support Managers (ILSMs), Project Managers, Engineers, and Defence stakeholders to help deliver successful project outcomes. Responsibilities:
- Manage codification and cataloguing activities for Defence equipment and system components.
- Process External Purchase Orders (EPOs) within MILIS to bring equipment into inventory and on charge.
- Coordinate the issue of equipment to Defence units through MILIS to support capability introduction into service.
- Support the development and maintenance of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documentation and project data items.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Defence customers, and functional teams to ensure inventory and logistics activities are delivered effectively.
- Assist with Through Life Support and sustainment activities across major Defence capability projects.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and contribute to inventory management best practice.
- Provide general project and logistics support as required by project leadership.
- Contribute to a safe, collaborative, and high-performing work environment. As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Experience in inventory management, logistics, supply chain, or Defence materiel management.
- Knowledge of Defence inventory systems, particularly MILIS, or similar inventory management platforms.
- Experience with codification, cataloguing, asset management, or logistics support activities.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and
Sap Erp
- Experience supporting Defence projects or sustainment activities will be highly regarded. All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply. What we will offer you:
