Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Finance, Financial Operations Directorate, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Additional selections may be made beyond the total number of vacancies specified using this vacancy announcement. Duties This position is located in the Financial Operations Directorate of the Office of Finance (OF), Office of the Commissioner, United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The incumbent provides financial program administration and analytical support to designated operational pay, revenue, and/or accounting functions. This position starts at a salary of $50,930.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $80,991.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to $80,991 (GS-9 Step 10). Major duties include: Compiling and analyzing data used to develop and improve services relating to work flow, office procedures, financial control systems, and reporting. Researching inquiries and providing support to stakeholders through the helpdesk functions or as assigned from management staff while also following inquiries to resolution and/or referral to a supervisor or another branch within the Office of Finance. Preparing statements and reports containing timely, accurate financial information used to manage financial projects and programs and to meet reporting requirements while also determining the format, relevance, suitability, accuracy, and reliability of the collected financial information and the proper format for its presentation. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Gathering, organizing, and reviewing financial, transactional, or workload data from reports, spreadsheets, databases, or financial systems. Identifying routine discrepancies, missing information, or errors in financial data, records, or transactions and referring issues for correction or resolution. Processing or reviewing routine transactions in financial systems in accordance with established procedures, guidance, or internal controls. Communicating with internal and external stakeholders by phone, email, helpdesk ticket, or other methods to respond to routine financial program inquiries. Assisting with the preparation of financial reports, summaries, correspondence, procedures, or other documents used to support financial program operations. Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Gathering, evaluating, and analyzing financial, transactional, or workload data to support reporting, program operations, customer service, or process improvement. Reviewing financial data, records, reports, or transactions to determine accuracy, completeness, relevance, suitability, or reliability for use in financial reporting or program management. Identifying discrepancies, trends, system issues, or process concerns in financial data or operations and recommending corrective actions or improvements. Providing information, reports, or recommendations to supervisors, managers, or other decision-makers to support financial program oversight and operational decisions. Communicating with internal and external stakeholders to research financial program inquiries, provide customer service, and follow issues through resolution or referral.
