About This Role Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician located in Beaumont or Orange, Texas. Provides maintenance craft specific support to plants. Maintains and repairs all types of equipment within craft knowledge and expertise. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience. Responsibilities
• Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.
• Calibrates and aligns equipment.
• Completes preventative maintenance activities.
• Checks sizing of components and parts.
• Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment.
• Coordinates maintenance spare parts.
• Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.
• Repairs, maintains and installs equipment and machinery which is used in the process.
• Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.
• Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
• Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work. Required Qualifications
• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 or more years of experience working with basic process equipment (pumps, blowers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
• Must have a current, valid US driver’s license to drive a forklift.
• Able to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed with or without reasonable accommodation.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of reciprocating compressors is preferred.
• NCCER Certification, Trade School or Associates preferred.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to use and read a Micrometer.
• Setting clearance on pumps with open face impeller.
• Orientation on angular contact ball bearings.
• Mechanical seal tensions.
• Gear pumps and positive displacement pumps. Physical Demands
• Able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation
• Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
• Wear and use respirators.
• Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
• Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Frequent/ occasional lifting of material weighing approximately 50 lbs.
• Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs. (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less) Skills
• Mechanical Maintenance: Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains process equipment and machinery, including pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Preventive Maintenance: Performs preventive maintenance activities, collects equipment history and operating data, and supports reliability improvements through failure analysis and proactive maintenance practices.
• Equipment Installation and Precision Alignment: Installs, calibrates, aligns, and verifies equipment components, ensuring proper sizing, tolerances, clearances, bearing orientation, and mechanical seal performance to meet operational requirements.
• Maintenance Planning: Collaborates with planners, work coordinators, and operations personnel to prioritize, schedule, and execute maintenance activities while following established Maintenance Work Processes and procedures.
• Materials Management: Documents maintenance findings, completes failure analyses, manages spare parts, specifies and requisitions equipment and materials, and utilizes systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office to support maintenance operations. Additional Notes
