Product Lead Overview The Product Lead – Legacy Platform Modernization provides strategic product leadership for a requirements, solutioning, and AI-enabled prototyping effort to modernize a federal client's legacy loan servicing platform, migrate its capabilities to a modern enterprise platform, and plan the full decommissioning of the legacy environment. The role establishes the strategic and future-state vision, drives executive alignment with federal client leadership, oversees multiple workstreams spanning requirements, solutioning, data, and AI development, and guides the creation of decision-support deliverables including modernization roadmaps, legacy function disposition analysis, risk-adjusted implementation options, and decommissioning strategies. This leader independently directs cross-functional teams of product managers, business analysts, solution architects, product designers, data analysts, and AI engineers to produce client-ready, high-quality work. Success requires at least 7 years of relevant experience; excellent written and verbal communication and executive presentation skills; strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail; the ability to shift priorities and lead through ambiguity; and proficiency with the Microsoft Suite. Key Functions

  • Lead the legacy platform modernization assessment and provide overall product leadership across the Requirements, Solutioning, and Development workstreams.
  • Establish the strategic and modernized end-state vision for legacy capabilities, mapping each function to its future home within the target enterprise platform.
  • Drive executive alignment with federal client business leadership, IT, and stakeholders; facilitate decision-making and deliver draft and final executive presentations of options, trade-offs, and recommendations.
  • Oversee current-state assessment of the legacy platform, including its servicer portal, supporting databases, reporting services, external servicer integrations, and manual operational processes.
  • Guide capability-by-capability value stream reviews and requirements workshops across loan servicing capabilities, including general and delinquent loan servicing, servicing quality reviews, claims processing, collections, loan purchase requests, property acquisitions, and post-audit reviews.
  • Ensure functional and non-functional requirements are documented for each capability to a level sufficient to begin solutioning, with requirements and assessments maintained in Confluence and Jira.
  • Direct creation of a legacy function disposition analysis, assigning each legacy function a disposition (migrate, retire, automate, consolidate, defer, or replace with policy/process change).
  • Guide development of phased modernization implementation options, including sequencing, quick wins vs. full implementation, best/expected/worst-case scenarios, and supporting cost, schedule, and staffing estimates.
  • Champion responsible use of AI in modernization, including AI Ops, the AI development harness, reusable skills and agents, the innovation pipeline, and targeted prototypes, and incorporate AI pilot learnings into the future-state vision and roadmap.
  • Ensure alignment of recommendations with enterprise shared services, common participant and person data records, industry servicing data standards, and a high-level enterprise data model.
  • Account for workforce evolution and employee performance considerations, identifying where automation can reduce manual work while federal client staff retain judgment and oversight.
  • Ensure work adheres to federal client Technical Reference Model standards, DevSecOps best practices, configuration-first platform principles, and federal client documentation templates.
  • Independently lead large, cross-functional teams to deliver monthly work products on schedule and oversee production of complete, client-ready, high-quality deliverables.
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and scope changes; effectively navigate client escalations and delivery challenges, including SME availability and environment access constraints.
  • Create a culture of teamwork and accountability, and continuously build consensus and commitment around modernization and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strategic client relationships with federal client leadership and business stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • An additional 2 years of experience with an Associate's Degree.
  • An additional 4 years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Experience leading legacy system modernization, migration, or decommissioning assessments and producing roadmaps and implementation options for executive decision-makers.
  • Experience leading requirements elicitation, value stream analysis, and future-state visioning across multiple business capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including presenting recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can easily shift focus between high-priority tasks as required.
  • Demonstrates leadership in the face of ambiguity, rather than waiting for direction from above.
  • Navigates through challenges to consistently get things over the finish line.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Preferred Qualifications or Skills
  • Experience supporting federal loan servicing or benefits-delivery applications and enterprise platform migrations.
  • Existing Public Trust clearance at a federal agency.
  • In-depth knowledge of the mortgage industry, particularly loan servicing, loss mitigation, default, foreclosure, and claims processes.
  • Familiarity with MISMO data standards and servicer reporting.
  • Experience implementing Salesforce and/or AWS solutions for the federal government.
  • Experience applying AI-assisted tools and practices (e.g., AI-assisted code analysis, reverse-engineered requirements, rapid prototyping) within FedRAMP-authorized environments.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and federal client Technical Reference Model standards.
  • Experience using JIRA and Confluence. Position Details
