Summary About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Military Community and Family Policy (DASW (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of War, Personnel and Readiness (USW (P&R)) and serves as the Director of Military Community Support Programs. This position may be eligible for situational telework as determined by the agency policy. Duties

  • Supervisory Program Analyst for all aspects of program management of the Military Family Life Counseling (MFLC) and Military OneSource contracts.
  • Serve as the Director for multimillion-dollar worldwide programs that provides support for military service members and their families.
  • Responsible for engaging in assigned contract pre-award, award and post-award activities, to remain familiar with all aspects of the contract.
  • Review assigned programs for potential efficiencies based on joint service initiatives and/or federal partnership opportunities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with national, state, local, and government leaders with vested interest in the improvement of quality of life services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating support programs addressing the needs of service members and their families, developing policy and procedures regarding military community and family support programs, maintaining contract oversight for total support for service members and their families, tracking all contract modifications to ensure compliance, and performing a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities, such as; assigning work to subordinates, evaluating work performance of subordinates, interviewing candidates for positions and identifying training needs of employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
